Sept. 1, 2009 Clinton music series ends with a flourish By Dominic Serrao ![]() On Sunday August 30, the sun shined, despite threats of rain, as historic Clinton hosted a grand finale of its Come Together music series. Singer/songwriter Richard DiPaolo of the Booglerizers said he had “a great time busking in Clinton.” DiPaolo was thankful for the feedback he received from the crowd in attendance. “That’s the best part for songwriters, “ he added in an interview with the Examiner. Pittstown-resident Libby Kelly, lead vocalist of the Blue Sugar Band, echoed a similar view. She said, “The people who came to Clinton to take in the show were very friendly and complimentary.” The summer-long weekly music series with three sidewalk open air venues featured talented local musicians. The grand finale event, organized by the Clinton Guild, was being held as a day of appreciation to thank the musicians for their participation throughout the series. Four solo musicians and two bands of varying genres, who had participated in the series during the summer, performed from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Upright bassist Pat Mormino of The Trainwrecks noted that the music series had made Clinton’s Main Street much livelier than ever before. He added, “Come Together is a great event which allows musicians to be heard and gives people a reason to come out to Clinton.” Singer/songwriter Brian Colburn said, “The town couldn't be more welcoming to the artists.” The series continues next year and the musicians are already looking forward to it. Colburn said, “The music series has always been a great experience for me, and the finale was no exception. I’m looking forward to 2010.” Also, looking forward to next year is Mormino, whose performances were rained out twice this summer. The Oldwick-resident said, “Let’s just hope the rains do not feel the same way!” Other performers during the grand finale included Rick Koval as part of The Trainwrecks, Ryan Richards and Kenny Cunningham.
